What are Autoimmune Diseases?

Diseases occurring when the body’s natural defence system can’t tell the difference between your own cells and foreign cells, causing the body to mistakenly attack the normal cells.

Example:-

  • Rheumatoid arthritis, a form of arthritis that attacks the joints

  • Psoriasis, a condition marked by thick, scaly patches of skin

  • Psoriatic arthritis, a type of arthritis affecting some people with psoriasis

  • Lupus, a disease that damages areas of the body that include joints, skin and organs

Symptoms of Autoimmune disease

Common symptoms of autoimmune disease include:

  • Fatigue
  • Joint pain and swelling
  • Skin problems
  • Abdominal pain or digestive issues
  • Recurring fever
  • Swollen glands
  • Stem cell therapy:
  • Has the unique ability to modulate the immune system to shut off pathological responses while preserving its ability to fight off diseases.
  • Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) home to inflamed tissue and start producing anti-inflammatory agents.
  • Mediators act locally and do not suppress the immune response of the patient’s whole body.
  • MSCs induce the production of T-regulatory cells – immune cells which protect the body against immunological self-attack.
