What is Cancer?
The second-leading cause of death in the world

Cancer is a disease caused by an uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the body, which spreads to the surrounding cells and tissues.

Cancer progresses in the stages as:

 

Stage 0

No cancer, only abnormal cells with the potential to become cancer also called carcinoma in situ.

Stage 1

The cancer is small and only in one area. It is also called early-stage cancer.

Stage 2,3

The cancer is larger and has grown into nearby tissues or lymph nodes.

Stage 4

Cancer has spread to other parts of your body. It is also called advanced or metastatic cancer.

Signs and Symptoms of Cancer:

  • Fatigue
  • A lump or thickened area that can be felt under the skin.
  • Weight changes, including unintended loss or gain.
  • Skin changes, such as yellowing, darkening or redness of the skin, sores that won’t heal, or changes to existing moles.
  • Changes in bowel or bladder habits.
  • Persistent cough or trouble breathing.
