Lung Disease

What is COPD?

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common lung disease. Having COPD makes it difficult to breathe.

There are two forms of COPD:

  • Chronic bronchitis: involving long-term cough with mucus.
  • Emphysema: involving damage to the lungs over time.

Most people with COPD have a combination of both conditions.

Stem Cells

Stem cells can differentiate, which is the unique ability to change into any cell in the body. They can be administered intravenously and find damaged tissues around organs. When used in COPD patients, stem cells can repair damaged lung tissue to combat emphysema or chronic bronchitis. Stem cells have natural anti-inflammatory properties, which can clear airways for those with chronic bronchitis.
